Young people often express themselves through anger, in sudden outbursts with little pause for thought and out of proportion to the trigger.

This innovative toolkit suggests alternative responses and ways of understanding the underlying causes of anger, as well as tried and tested techniques for addressing anger management in the age ranges of 5-8, 9-13 and 14-17 years with ideas that can be adapted for individuals or groups. The three parts each contain seven sessions that address particular themes. These can be worked through in sequence or in sessions selected as needed. It is also possible to use themes across the age groups selecting, for instance, 'teasing' then 'bullying' then 'intimidation'.

With age-appropriate methods the theme of the Wolf is used to help youngsters understand their feelings and how to respond. Wolves have many facets: they can be very angry but also very nurturing; loners as well as protective of others.

Resources include activities, worksheets, drawings, questionnaires, puppetry and role play with masks, and will help youngsters to explore, express, understand and transform their anger more appropriately.

CD-ROM included.
