0 The collapse of Booktopia has been widely reported as they were the leading Australian online book retailer, and many people have been saddened by the the demise of a well known Australian business.
What has been less widely reported is that Booktopia were not only a retailer; they were also the sole Australian distributor for several international publishers. This has caused issues with supply of some titles in our range. Where possible we are sourcing books from alternative suppliers but necessarily these are overseas and hence there are delays as there is no longer any available stock in Australia.
This only impacts a small percentage of our range but we have noticed an increase in orders for the impacted publishers as customers look for alternative sources to Booktopia. We are actively working with the publishers and overseas distributors to provide short-term cover whilst alternative long-term distribution relationships are resolved. The bottom line for our customers is that some orders will be delayed and there may be a few titles which we cannot source through alternative channels until the situation with Booktopia becomes clearer.
