Dr Maryanne Wolf Seminars

From 2nd to 9th September, visiting US reading expert Dr Maryanne Wolf is presenting a series of seminars in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne titled - Tales of the Reading Brain: Reading Development, Dyslexia, and the Digital Culture. The seminars are being hosted by Learning Disabilities Australia and limited places are still available, so register online now!

Workshop dates:

  • Brisbane - Friday 2nd September
  • Sydney - Wednesday 7th September
  • Melbourne - Friday 9th September

Silvereye will have a resource display at the Sydney and Melbourne workshops open from 8.00 am - 3.30 pm with a broad array of resources focussed on dyslexia, reading and spelling skills. The display will include a full sample RAVE-O Toolkit so that attendees can see first-hand Maryanne Wolf's research backed reading intervention program.

This workshop will be a unique opportunity for teachers, speech pathologists, psychologists, researchers and policy makers to hear such an acclaimed researcher who has significantly contributed to our understanding of the neurological underpinning of the reading brain and whose theoretical perspective has led to practical interventions which have assisted thousands of students who struggle with reading.

Internationally recognised teacher and researcher Dr Maryanne Wolf is author of over 140 scientific publications, and the recipient of multiple awards for teaching, research, and public service. She teaches and lectures all over the world and is a renowned expert on the reading brain. Dr Wolf is the John DiBiaggio Professor of Citizenship and Public Service and Director of the Center for Reading and Language Research, at Tufts University in Boston, USA. With her doctoral degree from Harvard University, she is a cognitive neuroscientist who conducts research on the reading brain, dyslexia, and global literacy. Maryanne Wolf developed the highly acclaimed Rave-O programme and also wrote Proust and the Squid: The Story and Science of the Reading Brain, now translated into 13 languages. She and her colleagues are developing digital learning tools to bring literacy to children in poverty around the world.
