These picture worksheets challenge students to describe similarities and differences. To describe the differences between pictures, students must use a variety of basic concepts. The activities challenge students to be precise in their use of vocabulary.
The book is divided into three sections:
- Talking About Words. The tasks in this section require students to compare various nouns and to describe ways in which they are the same and ways in which they are different. Students are also asked to identify nouns that don't "fit" with the others in a group and to explain why these nouns are different.
- Talking About Pictures. Students are presented with groups of two pictures that show similar situations with slight differences. Students are asked to describe how the pictures are different.
- Talking About Situations. The activities in this section require students to make comparisons after listening to short stories or descriptions of situations. Many of the activities relate to situations experienced by students in their daily lives.
