Sound Out Chapter Books Set B1

Each book in the Sound Out series is written in chapter format with stories that have the charm and wit to keep kids coming back for more. Sound Out Chapter Books give students massive opportunities to practice decoding one-syllable words. The set contains six books, three of which focus on short vowels and three that include words with both short and long vowels.

Set B-1 includes six books that give practice in all the decoding skills found in Set A plus two groups of new skills: three of the books focus on consonant blends and digraphs and three focus on diphthongs, controlled vowels, and silent letters. Like Set A, only single-syllable words are included.

Set B1 includes six books:

3 x level 3 books (level 1-2 skills plus):

• Blends of 2 or 3 consonants
• Final y as long i
• Consonant Digraphs (ch, sh, th, wh, ph)

3 x level 4 books (level 1-3 skills plus):

• Initial silent letters (kn, wr)
• r-controlled vowels (a,e,i,o,u)
• Variant vowel pairs (au, aw, ew, oo)
• Diphthongs (oi, oy, ou, ow)

Each book is 5 x 7, 32 pp., with 22 pt. type
